Fresh Ways to Style Whites All Year Long

Clean and classic, whites are a great way to inject some freshness into your wardrobe. Call it a palate cleanser if you must, we love the way white styles serve up as a sartorial blank canvas to draw out a bevy of looks from that don’t need much colour coordination. With that said, check out our tips on how to style whites while perusing through ZAVI’s cream of the crop for your shopping pleasure!

Head to Toe Hot

Apart from fearing an unfortunate wine spill, we don’t see any reason why you should steer clear of flaunting some tonal white looks. We love the idea of pairing pieces in slightly different but near tones of white like cream, ivory, ecru or eggshell to soften the otherwise stark appeal of head to toe whites. Once you’ve pulled those pieces together, try adding some black or brown footwear to break up the colour a little more.

Take the Rough with the Smooth

If the concept of all-white dressing still seems daunting, you could put your fears to rest by mixing up different textures and fabrics together. Women can opt for an edgy yet feminine vibe by pairing a white silk cami with a cream leather skirt, while the boys could channel modern day Jay Gatsby with an off-white linen blazer, plain white tee peeking underneath over a pair of bright white trousers and a colourful pocket square or belt to spruce it up. Textures are even more fun to embrace in the winters as that’s when cable knits, tweeds and shearlings come out to play.

Offer Contrasting Takes

If you haven’t been one to deftly handle colour coordination in the past, then white is the way to go. Not just because it more or less goes with every colour under the sun, but because it deflects heat in the summers and injects some freshness into gloomy winters too. While pairing pastels with whites seems all too tried-and-true, we prefer creating extreme contrasts with our whites by teaming them with darker hues. Think navy blues, browns and even blacks with white for a look that’s hard to get wrong.
